Theodore Roosevelt was named after his father of the same name, who TR admired very much. Roosevelt also named his son Theodore. One would assume that if he liked it enough to name his own son Theodore, he must have liked it. TR did not like the nickname "Teddy." He preferred "TR" or, among friends and family, "Thee."
