Jackson got rid of the Bank because he saw this as a monopoly for the rich to get richer and Jackson was in support of the commonwealth people.
Although Jackson lowered the national debt, he did not actually pay off the debt. Jackson got it to only about $33 million dollars, the lowest it had ever been since the Jacksonian Era. Jackson although having good intentions, caused the panic of 1837 due to the destruction of the Bank.
