John F. Kennedy was tragically shot when driving through Dallas in a motorcade at 12:30pm on November 22nd 1963. Three sniper shots hit the president in about 7.2 seconds, the last one hitting him in the head. Although many witnesses thought the shots had come over from behind a grassy bank, a bystander called Howard Brenan reported to the police that he had seen a man fire a gun from the window of a warehouse on the corner of the plaza. He gave a description of the assassin, and later the police apprehended Lee Harvey Oswald who matched the description. Oswald was an employee at the warehouse who had left the building minutes after the assassination was first arrested that day for shooting a police officer, before it was suspected that he had murdered the president as well. The assassin was shot two days later by Jack Ruby to avenge Kennedy's death, but conspiracy theories abound over what happened.
If you meant who became president after John F. Kennedy was assassinated, the answer would be Lyndon B. Johnson.
