A Point/Counterpoint Diagram is a graphic organizer in which you outline the supporting ("point") and opposing ("counterpoint") arguments/points of view on a particular issue. It is a tool that may be used to begin a discussion, debate, persuasive speech or argumentative essay.

It can be used for historical events and current events, social/political issues, etc.

I am currently using it on the decision to drop the atomic bomb.

Other topics it may be used for include legalization of marijuana, gay marriage, the ban on "super-size" drinks, stem cell research, etc.

You can find a Microsoft Word version of the diagram along with tips on how to use it if you enter the following search terms, " point counterpoint graphic organizer 21st century". Hope this was helpful and good luck!
