What were the things that made Theodore Roosevelt so happy?

Teddy Roosevelt was an interesting man. He was an ardent environmentalist and actually tried to get people from using Christmas trees because the trees were being used as decorations and not being preserved. As a child he was sick so he made sure he was physically active with hunting, boxing, and camping. He visited Yosemite and made it a national park and saved an elk in the Washington rain forest. I think his family would have made him happy. He had 6 children and a number of pets in the White House. Yet, when his wife and mother died within days of each other it hit him hard. Overall all of the things I have read about him shows him as a positive person.

Theodore Roosevelt loved the west, wild things, and the beauty of nature. He designated five national parks. He protected 230 acres of land.
