Dolley , of course, served as White House hostess for her husband's two terms. She previously served as an occasional hostess for Jefferson, who was a widower, She was active in Washington social life while Van Buren was president, but I am not sure she ever hosted at the White House.

He served in the white house!!
Although George Washington was the first President of the US and served for two terms, he was never "in" the White House. The first president to live in the White House, then called the President's Palace or the Presidential Mansion, was John Adams. Further, it was not called the White House, even informally, until 1811 at the earliest. That term was not used as a formal or official designation until 1901.
George Washington, our first president, resigned after two terms.
James K. Polk
Yes, President Madison did stay in the White House. There has only been one U.S. president to not stay in the White House and this was, George Washington. Washington did not stay in the White House because it was not completed until 1800 and he had already served his two terms and was out of office by then. John Adams was the first president to live in the White House and every president since has lived there.
Chester Arthur was the president that sold 26 wagons of White House furniture. Chester A. Arthur served as president from 1881 to 1885.
Oh, dude, George Washington served as president for like two terms. Yeah, he was the OG president, rocking the White House for two rounds. Can you imagine being president for that long? Like, props to him, but also, can you imagine the stress?
