John F. Kennedy appointed Arthur Goldberg, his Secretary of Labor at the time and Byron White, the Solicitor General at the Department of Justice at the time, to the Supreme Court. Goldberg actually stepped down a few years later because he was bored with the position and was replaced by Lyndon's Johnson appointment of Abe Fortas.

Kennedy also appointed Thurgood Marshall, who was the plaintiff's attorney in the landmark Brown vs. the Board of Education case, to the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Lyndon Johnson later appointed him Solicitor General and finally as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.
