James Chaney was a motorcycle patrolman on duty as an escort to JFK's motorcade through DeLay Plaza in Dallas, Texas on 22 November 1963 when President Kennedy was assasinated. His motorcycle was no less than 15 feet behind and to the right of the President when the shots were fired. Chaney reported that day on ABC that three shots were fired and that the President was hit in the face by the second shot and the Governor of Texas, John Connally was hit by the third shot. He was not called as a witness by the Warren Commission and he died thirteen years later. His public statements disputed the "magic bullet" theory and the conclusions that resulted from that theory.
