Thomas R. Marshall (born March 14, 1854 in North Manchester, Indiana; died June 1, 1925 in Washington DC) succeeded James S. Sherman as the twenty-eighth Vice-President of the United States, serving between March 4, 1913 and March 4, 1921, including the whole of 1916.
