I think its becuase still we follow the Desertion Policy that was dicatated by Britishers that was also in the time of when there sued to be Wars all the time... It is been 40 years India has not fought any war but noone is bothered about Deserters (Peace deserters who desert due to acute domestic problem). Deserter Aimen are also somebodies son, brother, father etc...
Its time that government revive the policy at least peace deserter must get rehabilitataed.
Policy need to chnaged to accomodate genuine cases.
Indian Air Force deserter can never apply for a govt job.. till he is punished as per IAF laws by courtmartial...
its because I think there is no one talking about or raising the issues of Deserter Airman rehabilitation... There are 2-3 Generation of Armed forces that has retired without fighting or witnessing any war... Hence Airman who desert due to domestic problem must be given pardon. Look at this kind of cases: 1) Airman is 10th pass and dont get any further significant training. 2) Airman applies for discharge and his application is turned down by AHQ. 3) Airman is the only son of his parent and his parents are tool old to look after themseleves 4) Airman dont demand pension etc but just want discharge that get denied... 5) Airman has not committed any serious offense or taken any loans and deserted only due to family problems get treated like criminals is unfair and need human approach Most importantly its somewhere violation of human rights and people must stand for genuine cases...
