  • There are beliefs that there is life after death... But well... you can't really talk to someone who knows right? I find it a little more comforting to think that you'll go somewhere nice when you die or even start a NEW life.
  • Nothing definite can exist forever. At some point in time, it'll change beyond recognition compared to a former state.

So whatever you consider to be "you" has propably already changed significantly several times in your life and it will continue to change.

Even if your brain patterns would somehow go to some other plane of existence when you die, the drastic change in your environment as well as the death experience would have a strong impact on "you". Thus pre-death "you" would no longer exist.

So the answer is that you actually "die" multiple times before your physical death, and even if your mind/personality somehow survives your death, it will continue to change and thus "die".

Everything abstract is infinite in amount (somewhere, including outside our universe) as well as time. That's one of the reasons why people like to consider themselves as representatives of some abstract ideas. It makes them immortal in a way, since these ideas have always existed and always will.

  • Not as a conscious individual being, but what you did and didn't do or say will continue to influence the world even after you die, though maybe not in a way you'd like.
  • Yes, life will continue after you die. Not YOUR life, of course.
  • some people believe in heaven (or paradice) or hell. others believe in reincarnation.
  • Many western cultures and religions propose an afterlife based on the very widely held assumption that we will keep the individual memories and personalities we possessed while on earth. If there is an afterlife, I don't believe it will include these self-centered concepts.
  • If there is a life after death by coming back as something else or someone, then its not life after death, but new life!! cause it ain't you.
  • No theres not a life after death, but there is something else. If to find that we must know where we came from before this life. That's the source and there we go to after this life. Is it nothing then its nothing.. is it a spirit life, then its a spirit life.. if it was heaven then we go to heaven ect.
  • Birth and death are just the changes those occur. But the reality is the living! So life never ends. The pity is that we have not realised the really living entity. That is, we have not realized our own true self. When we realize it then we come to know that there is no end to the life but only it gets modified from one form to another. This would resemble the same as the law of conservation of energy.-truefinder
  • See when you die, the most funny part happens, is you do not know yourself that you are no more. The moment you realizes this, is when you start touching things and your hands could not feel it. There You come to know that "Yes, I am gone'. Then the process starts. For the first 3 days you stay in your house seeing all the rituals are been carried properly, which in other words is your "Clearance Certificate" for further processes. Then after 3 days your Journey starts towards Space., where you are taken to the astral world. Once you are landed properly in astral world, first ones to welcome you, would be your ancestors or your parents (if they have died) or if no one, then your GURU or GOD(whom u used to worship). They will tell you about an overview of astral world. They will hang around with you for some time. It seems like amusement park experience. You are fulfilled with your desires of eating NON VEG/ DRINKS or seeing female dancing (everything is available) as per your desire. Females even prettier than Aishwarya Rai are also there.
  • Truth is, we do not know. Some believe there is life after death in the form of heavenly life (angels), others believe we will become ghosts, some believe in reincarnation while there are some people who don't believe in either. There is no scientific evidence of life after death, but some fields of science do accept the possibility that energy left behind by a deceased person can indicate a slight possibility that ghosts exist (in the form of energies). Either way, when we die, we will learn the truth. The answers given are the opinions of various contributors. Bear in mind, there is no solid scientific evidence to support whether life after death is possible or not. The official scientific verdict is that the investigations into life after death are still ongoing.

  • Jewish answer: One of the central beliefs of Judaism, as codified by Rambam (Maimonides, 1135-1204), is that the soul continues to exist and is treated in accordance with the person's actions while he/she was alive. Our ancient sages emphasized the importance of being aware of this: "This world is a mere entranceway before the afterlife" (Mishna, Avot ch.4). All outstanding accounts are settled after this life. Some cases illustrate this point, since this entire world wouldn't be enough to reward a Moses or punish a Hitler. The afterlife is detailed at length in the Talmud. A full 20 pages of Talmud (Sanhedrin 90-110) are given to this subject. The afterlife is also referred to briefly in Torah (Bible) verses such as Genesis 15:15, which states that "You (Abraham) will come to your fathers in peace and will be buried in good (ripe; full) old age." This does not mean merely to be buried with one's forefathers, since Abraham was not buried with them. Such verses are stated many times. The prophets are more explicit with such references (see Isaiah 26:19, Daniel 12:13). The Tanakh does not delve into detail of the rewards of the righteous, because other religions could compete with even more poetic promises. Also because belief in the afterlife was shared by all ancient societies and needed little reiteration. See the Kli Yakar commentary to Leviticus ch. 26 for a fuller discussion.
