Great Britain had established thirteen American colonies.
There were seven royal colonies.
The 13 colonies were divided into three groups. They were called the Southern Colonies, the Middle Colonies, and the New England Colonies.
The Spanish established colonies in the Americas long before many other European countries because they were the early pioneers (or, pathfinders) in the Age of Exploration. With the inclination and income pertinent for supporting explorers, they sent out teams ready to colonize (and conquer) well before most of their European rivals.
The middle colonies are more diverse than the New England colonies because the middle colonies had many different religions and culture such as puritan, Anglican, roman catholic, Amish, and many more.
The colonies were governed by state government.
The colonies that were a part of Australia before federation were: Western Australia Queensland South Australia New South Wales Victoria Tasmania
Australia had there own colonies before federation they had there own rules and they ustoo live seperate to ech country or state
there were 6 different colonies in Australia before it became one federation
I take it that your referring to federation which was the 1st of January in 1901. This was the unification of the colonies into a federation of states.
Life before Federation was quite different many women didn't work and life was much harder. The states weren't called colonies and you had to have a passport if you wanted to pass from one colony to another each state had its own premier who made up the rules of how the state would be run.
Sir Henry Parkes was known as the Father of Federation in Australia. This was because he was a vocal advocate of federation of the Australian colonies.
The various colonies were federated on 1st of January, 1901, forming the Commonwealth of Australia.
On federation day every state and colonies become together as one country.
before Australia became a federation it was 6 british colonies
The Commonwealth of Australia is the official name. Commonly simply called Australia. Before federation there were six separate colonies with their own names (New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.) Australia was a common, but unofficial name for the colonies together.
All colonies joined in Federation on the same date - 1 January 1901.
