Who believed government powers should be divided between three branches?

The Final U.S. Constitution is what separates the three branches of government and was a result of a compromise on the central government of the U.S. and its responsibilities that was proposed at the Constitutional Convention of 1787. The new constitution was officially signed on Sep 17, 1787 but was officially ratified (by the ninth state creating the majority needed) and took effect on June 21, 1788 - So the answer is really a little fluid and depends on your view.

Why is the national government considered more powerful that the state governments?

The national government's power is greater than that of any individual state. This was made to have one unified country. Before the Constitution was created, there was the Articles of Confederation. This document gave immense power to the states because the colonists feared if they created a strong central government, that they would have another King George III. However, this plan proved to not be the best as it felt as if there were 13 different countries instead of one. The founding fathers then got back together to create a better constitution, and they came up with the Constitution. This piece of work proved to be an excellent form of government that has influenced countless other nations in the world today. However, the major difference between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution is that the Constitution gave direct power to the national government instead of the states.

What government influenced the American democracy?

The main focus our founding fathers had when establishing the United States government was that no 1 person or group gained to much power. So, they divided the government into three branches: Legislative branch (make laws), Executive branch (to enforce laws), and Judicial branch (determine whether or not laws are broken). The system of checks and balances was created. This gave each branch of government some powers over the other two. Ex: The president (executive branch) can appoint officials yet the appointment must first be passed by the legislative branch. Each branch has multiple cheks over th others. The branches "checking" each other helps keep the United States government "balanced". That was the idea that influenced th founding of American govern ment.
