Well, up until this time, families genereally ate at the same time, every night, at the kitchen table. It was not exactly considered appropriate for a family to eat outside the kitchen. Once tv dinners, trays, and tv's were all around, there was no one there to stop them. So eventually it became the newest way to enjoy the ball game, and the newest way to fit in game night, and eating, and tv all at once. It seems so small, but TV dinners were revolutionary.

Prior to the Civil War, steamships required a huge amount of coal and this was generally soft coal that produced terrible fumes and smoke. Speeds were very slow, usually only 8 or 9 knots. Most steamships were not very seaworthy and were not capable of long voyages or serving in violent weather. They also had a habit of catching fire or exploding.
That is not an Abraham Lincoln quote, even though it's attributed to Lincoln by a hundred internet sources. Doesn't sound one bit like Lincoln, and that trite parallel phrase switching is a mostly 21st Century habit that is really tiresome. We can all think of lots of examples -- "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but the number of moments that take your breath away." That sentence construction is especially popular in meaningless management and leadership slogans like, "The conventional definition of management is getting work done through people, but real management is developing people through work." (Agha Abedi). Then there's the Mark Twain quote that is maybe the historical template for this habit, ""It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." If anyone can confidently identify the document, speech, or letter of Lincoln's where he actually used that sentence, I'll be very surprised. It's not Lincoln.
Fort Sumter is primarily known for the onset of the Civil War rather than specific famous quotes. However, a notable quote associated with the event is President Abraham Lincoln's statement to Congress on July 4, 1861, where he remarked, "The government of the United States has not, in any case, been in the habit of using force against any State." Additionally, Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard's order to fire on the fort, signaling the start of hostilities, is often paraphrased as, "Fire on that fort!" These moments marked the beginning of a significant chapter in American history.
The British government wanted to raise taxes on the colonist after they funded the French and Indian War, and needed money. The colonist decided they did not want to be taxed without representation in the government. -"No Taxation Without Representation" was a slogan that was used to deflect the real desire to expand into the western land, to which England had made treaties with the indian nations not to expand into its territories, to end the French/Indian wars. So, began the American habit of repeatedly breaking treaties with the Indians.
