If you are referring to the motto "In God We Trvst" that is not a spelling error! There is another thread on this topic explaining the stylized use of the Roman alphabet by many artists during the 1920s. That alphabet looks like ours but only had 24 letters. Our U was represented by V, and J by the letter I.
