No circulation U.S. coins were struck in pure silver as it is too soft. All were made of 90% silver and 10% copper.

1944 quarters are not rare. Most retail for about $3 due to their silver content. The only more valuable one would be a coin that has a small D under the bow on the back AND is in like-new condition; that goes for $7 or $8.
