July 17, 2009 The 1890 silver dollar is the Morgan Dollar. The walking liberty design was used on the half dollar minted from 1916 to 1947 and is used today on the American Silver Eagle coin which has been issued each year since 1986. The 1890 Morgan Dollar was produced at 4 US Mint facilities; Philadelphia, New Orleans, Carson City and San Francisco. The mintmark for these mints can be found on the reverse [tails] side of the coin just above the letters "DO" in the word "DOLLAR". A letter "O" indicates the coin was minted at New Orleans. A letter "S" indicates the coin was minted at San Francisco. The letters "CC" indicate the coin was minted at Carson City. If there is no letter that indicates the coin was minted at Philadelphia and is represented in this answer by 1890-P. The values for these coins are shown in the chart below. The 1971 Walking Liberty silver dollar doesn't exist, as the Walking Liberty design was last minted in 1947. However, the 1971 coinage includes the Eisenhower dollar, which contains a copper-nickel composition rather than silver. If you're referring to the value of a genuine Walking Liberty silver dollar from earlier years, its worth typically ranges from $10 to $30, depending on its condition and silver content.
All silver dollars from 1922 to 1935 carry the Peace design. There has never been a Walking Liberty silver dollar, only a 50¢ piece, and these were not struck in 1922.
The 1946 walking liberty half is a common date, but because it is 90% silver, it is worth around $10.50 in common circulated condition.
