To clear things up, the bill isn't from Hawaii. It was printed in Washington during WWII for use in that territory. Distinctive seal colors and the "HAWAII" overprint were used so that they could be identified and demonetized in the event of an invasion. The idea was to prevent the Japanese from capturing the money and using it to finance their war efforts.
