Although the POW camp at Andersonville, Georgia was the cruelest Confederate POW camp by far, Union camps were terrible too. As an aside, the commander of the Andersonville camp was the only person tried for war crimes and was hanged after the war. This is an indication of bad things were in that camp.

The South definitely came off worse - the entire city of Atlanta was burnt to the ground. There was only one notable battle fought in the North, and as such it did not suffer as much damage as the South did. No need to be mean.
The South want to keep slavery so badly because they wanted to be able to have work but they do not pay them, SO the South can make more money to buy more slaves, more lands, so they can pay their taxes. North did not like what the South didn't have to pay for their works. South depended on slavery to growth for their farms, their plantation to be good, If slavery did not happen South will have been worse.
Small and large that had one slave was about 11%- most had paid off what their owners had paid for them. The "company store" towns had more in worse condition than the slaves in the south.
Type your answer here... free factory workers were treated worse than slaves.
Worse- That could have been worse. Worst- That is the worst jacket I've ever seen!
