Why is Little Big Horn famous?

Little Big Horn is famous for the battle with Sitting Bull and General Custer. At the Battle of the Little Big Horn, on June 25-26, 1876, the US 7th Cavalry suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of a superior force of Native American tribes, mainly the Sioux. The Sioux, or Lakota, tribes were the main indian tribes contending, but there were approximately 450-500 Cheyenne warriors as well, and a few Arapaho. The total indian warrior force has been variously estimated to be as low as 2300, and as high as 12000. Most experts agree it was no less than 3000 warriors or more.
