There is proof that the Vikings were in North America long before The Mayflower; also the Spanish settlement of St. Augustine was before the Mayflower time. Finally there is some proof and stories that Zheng He came to North America. I believe there is an excavation going on right now in Washington that is digging up a ship that may have been his.
