The first settlers primary goals were:
1. To explore the new lands in hopes to find fertile growing land.
2. To establish a working relationship with the natives.(That was later destroyed)
3. To repopulate the new land. aka making babies.

Settlers started Jamestown becuase the King and Queen of England (At the time, it was King James and Queen Elizabeth) wanted wealth and power, so they sent a group of about 100 settlers and supplies to America (the unknown land) to establish Jamestown.
