Civil war can be caused by many, many factors including but not limited to: famine, oppression, political differences, food or water shortages, discriminatory practices, prejudice, forbidden love (I know it sounds odd but it is the truth), and many other factors that escape my mind at the moment.
Sometimes they are caused when an unpopular political figure is elected and it causes division in a country. Usually it is a series of political issues that cause division between two parts of a country.
It is because when, for example the Europeans, had gained control of the area, it was regarded as a colony belonging to Another Country.
