The proclomation of 1763 prevented the colonists from moving west because of the probabilty of Indian attack
The Proclamation of 1763 was an attempt to prevent the colonists from going west and passed the Appalachian Mountains. The British did this to prevent future issues between Native Americans and the colonists. This angered the colonists because they wanted the benefits that would come with the western lands. Naturally, thousands disregarded the imaginary boundary line. The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was sent out by George III on October 7th 1763, restricting American settlement to the Eastern Seaboard area. Americans could not move westward into the Ohio Valley, Tennessee Valley, or south into the Floridas (i.e. the Gulf Coast). It meant that colonists couldn't move farther west than the Appalachian mountains. This upset the colonists because some had already claimed land to the west. The main reason for the rule was that it was costing too much money for the British to keep hostile Indians away from the settlers. It did not succeed because so many colonists were already settled in the area. It was finally altered in 1768 and 1770 to recognize the western settlements.
to keep peace between the colonists and Native Americans
The Native Americans of the West were more likely to favor the British than the Americans because the Americans did not live up to their promises. The British were also offering them more in the way of freedom and payment for the use of their land.
A war between the Americans and British in 1775-1783. The Colonists were fighting for freedom on the new world(America). The Colonists (America) won the war by having a good leader, hope, and a defensive method to keep their troops alive. It is the war that that had the 13 colonies gain their independence from England.
