The Native Americans of the West were more likely to favor the British than the Americans because the Americans did not live up to their promises. The British were also offering them more in the way of freedom and payment for the use of their land.

Because the Native Americans did not like the patriots that much.
Natives sided with the British because the British would keep Americans from expansion. The British wanted the Americans along the coast in order to keep an eye on them and have better control. Without British control over them, people would be free to move westward, which would result in Natives losing their land. Continued British rule which means Natives won't be disturbed as much and are able to keep their way of life.

Most tribes didn't-some did---the Indians who sided with the British did so in hopes of slowing down the colonials taking their land.If the British maintained control, the continuous pushing of frontier boundries would stop,or at least slow.(so they thought). Some tribes did side with the colonists, aiding in scouting and interpretation. Some tribes helped the French, who, for a while, were on the side of the colonists

They sided with whomever promised the best deals and whomever gave them weapons and whomever slaughtered them less often.
