I think some important issues have to be fights with friends and always wondering what other people think aboout you.Young women today feel pressured into always having the clothes or the newest technology. They worry about simple things like will they like my hair today or why is she talking to her not me. I think another issue is boys especially feeling the pressure if you friend or friends has a boyfriend. And also drink and drugs are a major issue in todays society. Another thing that makes girls worry about is clicks. They want to hang out with the "Popular Girls" and become one. Of corse, once you think your in the click, they can just leave you in the dust and you would not have any friends to hang out with because you may be accidently ignouring them to spend time with the click and hope they let you join.

This person forgot sex!....I feel a huge amount of pressure to have sex at a young age. I'm not ready and i think it's an issue that needs addressing. What makes having sex at a young age so cool? We need to help the young people realize that there's nothing cool about it. sex is meaningless without love.

Keisha_03:

I believe it's teenage pregnancy. I am

currently enrolled in a high school where

there are a total of fourteen girls pregnant.

The oldest mother-to-be is in the 11th grade.

This is a big issue because the county is looking

at potential drop outs and more absences.

Teenage pregnancy needs to be stopped.

Young women today face many issues while trying to figure out who they are, who they want to be and how to get there. Pressure from peers to try drugs and alcohol is one of them, this can be very dangerous and many young people don't comprehend or understand the repercussions that they may face if they get involved. Not only are these things addictive and do nothing but destroy your body but they are also illegal, and if caught young women (or men) can end up having a chain reaction of problems with school, family and the law.

Another thing that I think is a serious issue for young women is when is the time right for sex. As a high school student I remember feeling as though my friends had all done it, and although I was not sure if I was ready for that my then boyfriend assured me I was, and proceeded to tell me that if I didn't want to he wouldn't want to be with me. Although this can sound like the end of the world to a young woman I believe there are many out there who will stand by what they think is right for themselves and tell those who try to pressure them that they will not be bullied. I believe that a lot of young women feel that if they don't have sex, guys will not want to date them. Other girls can also play a big role in pressuring their friends. When other young women have had sex too young or feel ashamed they sometimes search out people who they can manipulate into doing the things they are doing in order to avoid the feelings of shame or sadness. Nobody wants to feel isolated or alone. I commend young women who hold onto there innocence until they do find the right person, I also don't blame young women who do not. It is a tough world and they are just getting the hang of things. Regret is useless but changing the way you handle things in the future is the 1st step to becoming a confidant self assured young woman.

Though I do agree with the answers given above, I feel that the main issue young women face today is objectification. Women of all ages are expected to care excessively about their appearances and the impressions they give off, mostly, to men. Teenage girls especially define themselves by the men in their lives. Having a boyfriend has become a measure of self-worth! Despite all gender equality in the eyes of the law, young women still feel a pressure to be sexy that men have never experienced. As much as women have advanced far in the fields of science, mathematics, literature, etc., most female role models today, such as singers and actresses, turn themselves into nothing but objects, dressing skimpily to attract attention from increasingly younger ages. Who can girls look up to? Admiring a proficient scientist or published author is "nerdy?" Appreciation of personality as opposed to looks is a non-entity. From a young age, girls feel the need to attract attention from the opposite sex to prove to themselves that they are accomplished. Until we can escape the pressure of objectification, teenage girls will never become the successful women that should be admired.

Today, young women face a trade off between asserting their equality to men and retaining a sense of femininity. As women drift to close to one side of the scale, they start to lose a connection to the other side. However, there is no true middle ground. Young women are categorized as either "one of the guys" or as a possessor of beauty. This causes women to fall behind a facade that stems from trying to prove oneself on either side of the scale. This gives way to the before mentioned of peer pressure, objectification, teen pregnancy and other societal paradigms.* These patterns follow young females in the business and social world and are nearly inescapable.

In the business world, a successful woman either makes her wealth off of her beauty and therefore is place in a inferior status to the men who are her consumers, or have made their own progress through relinquishing their rights to their beauty in attempts to be seen as an equal intellectually. In a social or relationship sense, a girl can only make an adequate partner if she does not challenge the right of the male to be the leader in the relationship. It is okay for a girl to be smart, athletic, and independent-- as long as she is not too smart, too athletic or too independent. This trade off is the cause for much of the insecurity, sexual inhibitions and flippant actions seen in young women today.

*As a note, I included the previously stated answers in this revision, for, they are great examples of situations that young women face today, however, they do not address the true issue at hand.

Does a man get upset when confronted about another female and the female he is with knows the truth Do you think he is hiding something from his female?

A person hiding something might get upset about being found out. But an innocent person might get upset about being unfairly accused. Or about not being trusted. So upset or not is not good proof of anything.
