Juan Ponce De Leon was a Spanish explorer (1460-1521), his most famous accomplishment being the first European to explore (and name) Florida, searching for the Fountain of Youth.De Leon made a total of two searches for the Fountain of Youth, once in March 1513, and again in February 1521. Both searches were unsuccessful. During his second search, his group were met by a large group of Native Amercians shooting arrows at them. An arrow hit De Leon, and died in July 1521 from his wounds.
