1964 and earlier dimes are 90% silver. In average condition their retail value is about 0.07 X the current price of silver; a metal dealer will pay less.
Look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter next to the base of the torch. It may be blank or there may be a D or S. (The letters 'JS' next to Roosevelt's neck are the designer's monogram and not a mint mark.)
