There were two types of silver dollars minted in 1873.

If you have the kind minted for use within the US, it will have a picture of Miss Liberty seated with her body facing rightward, but looking over her shoulder. The back of the coin has a spread-winged eagle, the words United States of America and the abbreviated denomination ONE DOL.

If you have this type, look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter below the eagle. It may be blank or there may be a CC.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 08/2010:

No mint mark (Philadelphia):

Very worn condition - $240

Moderately worn - $330

Slightly worn - $420

Almost no wear - $964

Uncirculated - $1,910 to $83,130 depending on quality

"CC" mint mark (Carson City):

Very worn - $5,580

Moderately worn - $10,620

Slightly worn - $17,100

Almost no wear - $45,592

Uncirculated - $108,130 to $193,750

Beware of counterfeit 1873-CC's though.

If you have a Trade Dollar made for use outside of the US, it will have a picture of Miss Liberty seated facing to the left, and the words TRADE DOLLAR on the back. In that case, you can find more details at the Related Question.
