Jamestown's main natural resorce and cash crop is tobacco which was found in Jamestown when they arrived and was not used by the farmers or whomever sold/raised it. Also corn, turkey and bread.
Since they cut down a bunch of trees to build Jamestown there wasn't a lot of resources for Jamestown which caused poverty.

Roman trade also reached Arabia, which exported incense and spices, Persia which acted as an intermediary for the trade with China and India. China, exported silk, and India exported spices, herbs, sesame oil, sugar, limes, peaches, ebony, pearls and wild animals (tigers, rhinos, elephants, and snakes which were used for circus-type animal acts).There was also trade with Ethiopia which exported ebony and ivory.
