Yes, many countries in other continents also celebrate Mother's Day. It's like a worldwide holiday just like Christmas and New Year. It also goes the same for Father's Day. But of course there are some that doesn't.

Axis powers consisted of Germany and Italy, who had Facist goverments and Japan, who had a Monarchy with the military in charge of day to day operations. The Allies had the United States, a Federal Republic, the United Kingdom, a Constitutional Monarchy and the Soviet Union, a Communist dictatorship. Some include France (a Republic) as part of the Allies but given they were knocked out of the war in 1940, they really don't count.
US soldiers had been encamped in Britain for at least a year. This time was spent in mock landings and other preparations for the invasion.
Other than US Veteran's Day, Canada celebrates November 11 as Remembrance Day, and I'm sure many other countries have celebrations, perhaps by other names too.
Canada and the US celebrate Veterans Day. Other countries have similar observances, some on November 11th, others on different days. They are all in tribute to the millions that have served their countries in the armed forces.

In 1919 there was no veteran's day, only armistice day on the 11th of November. People did not celebrate it very much, other than remembering WWI. In 1954, our veteran's day was made, and was celebrated widely.
