Henry Clay had a lot to do with the Civil War. He was probably the most loyal person out there. He helped with all the Compromises especially the Missouri Compromise because he was the one that wanted Missouri to come into the Union as a slave state and Maine as a free state. He ran for president 3 times in 1824, 1832, and 1844 but he wasn't popular enough to get it. He was a Speaker of the House of Representatives, Secretary of State, and he served as a senator. He was everything about the Civil War but he did not fight in it.
