When the union troops were in an area they often had the freed slaves come to them for protection and to help. At one point slaves came to one unit and the confederate officer demanded the return of the slaves from the union commander. The union commander told the Confederate that the slaves were contraband. By declaring them contraband he didn't have to return the slaves. After that event they called themselves "contraband."
No, the confederate had no slaves, but the union did have African American solders.
The Union is a group of states that disagree with slaves and the Confederate is a group of states that believe in slaves.
The escape of freed slaves significantly aided the Union by bolstering its manpower, as many former slaves enlisted in the Union Army, providing crucial support in the fight against the Confederacy. Their knowledge of the Southern landscape and military tactics also offered strategic advantages. Additionally, the escape of slaves undermined the Southern economy and labor force, weakening the Confederacy's war effort. Furthermore, their stories and contributions galvanized Northern support for the abolitionist cause and the Union’s overall mission.
I think you may be a little confused. The Emancipation Proclamation freed all slaves that were in areas that were- AT THAT TIME- in rebellion against the Union. Not the slaves rebelling, but the states or parts of states where slaves lived,

In no significant way at all except as propaganda. It did not free any slaves in the Union (north), only the slaves in the rebelling states (Confederacy/south), where the Union had no control at the time and therefore could not enforce it. So it freed no slaves at all!
It freed slaves in states outside of the Union. It freed the slaves in the Confederacy. It freed slaves in the rebelling states. It frees slaves. It was issued by American President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, during the American Civil War, using war time powers to free the slaves of the ten states in rebellion against the United States government. Freeing all slaves in states fighting against the Union
The residents of the Southern states that seceded from the United States in 1861 (originally 7 of them) and set up the Confederate States of America. The Northern states who did not secede considered the Southern states a "rebelling" and so called them rebels. The Southerners did not see themselves a rebels, but as soldiers of a sovereign nation.
The north was Union and mostly against slavery
To most people living in the US at the time, the Civil War as we know it today, was called the "war of rebellion." The US Civil War was actually an UNDECLARED WAR in which the south was rebelling against it's own government. Hence the word "Rebel", short for rebellion.
