Abraham Lincoln believed that slavery was completely wrong. You may have heard about the American civil war, with the Lincolns Union forces from the North tried to wipe out the confederate southern states, who believed in slavery. Abraham was still racist and believed that blacks weren't even with whites. I hope this helps
Abraham Lincoln stopped slavery on September 22nd, 1862
The North and South were arguing about the existance of slavery, and Abraham Lincoln was elected president. He was anti-slavery, and abolishing slavery would destroy the South's slave based economy (cotton). They seceeded from the Union to keep their slaves.
Abraham Lincoln was elected as president of the Untied States in 1861. His inauguration was held on March 4, 1861.
Abraham Lincon
Abraham Lincoln was raised by his father who was a strict Baptist and did not believe in slavery. His views and the encounters Lincoln had with slaves themselves influenced his views on slavery.
He did not think slavery should be abolished, but he did not want it to spread to new states

slavery
i think so.........maybe.
Even though he believed in slavery, as president he wanted it to end to keep the United States together.
In 1860 Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th president of the United States. Lincoln did not agree with slavery and wanted to put a stop to it. The south wanted slavery and did not want it to stop, that means they did not want Abraham to be elected. After the election was official, 11 states seced from the union. They created the Confederacy of America, and elected Jefferson Davis as their president. Not long after they seceded the one and only Civil War started.
I think it was because he wanted a change in slavery....
