But remember, only about 1.1 million 1908 cents were minted at San Francisco compared to over 32 million at Philadelphia (no mint mark) so it's not likely that the coin will have a mint mark.

The two rarest Indian Head pennies are the 1877 and the 1909-S.
For a Lincoln cent, any mintmark is under the date on the obverse. Indian Head cents have the mintmark on the reverse under the wreath and can only be an "S" mintmark, on just on the 1908 & 1909 issues.
Most 1908 Indian head cents are worth about $2-3 (retail) if they are in moderately worn condition. However, if there is a small "S" on the back under the wreath, you have a much rarer coin from the San Francisco mint. In similar condition a 1908-S cent retails for about $90.

If you mean Indian Head cents? Some of the more desirable dates are: 1909-S, 1908-S, 1886, 1877, 1864, 1860 and 1859.
The 1871 Indian Head Cent, with a mintage of 3,929,500, is considered a key date because there are only 3 other cents with lower mintages in the series. Sorry no "N" mint marks on a Indian Head cent. But there is a "S" mint mark and that coin has retail values of $300.00-$900.00 for a circulated coin.
