From what I read is that Great Britain had oil companies in Iran and they could not come up with a agreement, I think Iran was wanting to raise oil prices on great Britain and GB seen it as a threat to there economy. BG tried everything they could to negotiate and after many failed attempts they ask the US to get involved and find a way to overthrow the prime minister, at first US denied the proposal but late the CIA got involved in the 1953 Iranian coup d'état or also known as the TPAJAXProject.
