The main reason slaves worked hard were because they could be punished if they did not. Slaves could be punished is a number of ways, which ranged from being whipped to being killed.
Slaves had to work from sunrise to sunset. They feared being seperated from their loved ones. they were slaves
The south was abundant in Cotton that needed to be picked, which is extremely hard work, so Southerners would buy slaves to do the work for them, and any other type of hard labour, like cutting sugar cane,so if a southerner had a plantation and money, they would buy slaves to do this, this all came to an end with the civil War from 1861 to 1865 Thank goodness
no older slaves did the hard labor. elderly slaves babysat the children until they were old enough to start working themselves. sometimes slave owners would have sex with their slaves to make more baby slaves so that when they grow they can do work. also some slave women were promised freedom if they had 15 babies with their slave owner.
I'll base this answer on the assumption that the question refers to the South before the US Civil War. Slaves, were for the most part, workers on the large cotton & tobacco plantations. In the South, the weather is hot & humid so the work was hard. Additionally slaves had household duties, more so for female slaves, and slaves also tended the horses & other livestock herds of their owners. Once again the work was not easy & in many situations slaves were beaten. However, this could be done only on a selective basis as a slave owner needed well fed & healthy slaves to toil in the fields.
The south was agriculturally heavy, so they needed someone to do the hard work. The north was focused much more on industrial type jobs, which did not need slaves.
it was kind of boring but Slaves always wanted to be freed. So They try to work so hard. it was a hard job.
Slaves worked hard due to the cruel and inhumane conditions imposed on them by their owners, who demanded labor without regard for their well-being. Additionally, slaves had no choice but to work hard in order to avoid punishment, ensure their survival, and possibly earn privileges.
Money and lazyness. People didn't want to do their own work so they would get slaves to do their work for them so they could get the money without even moving there behind from their comfy air chair in their house while the slaves work as hard a physiclly possible.

sometimes there body or there hard work that they can do
If you are talking about the famous Egyptian slaves, it has been proved that they were not slaves but free people. If, however, you are talking of 1600s onwards, people were too lazy to do the work themselves, because life was hard in those days and work was also hard. These people took people as slaves to do the work for them. Solve your question?
the slaves in great Britain had to work hard on the slave ships and do what people say really
They were important to the owners so they did not lose money. Slaves were used to do labor and hard work, they often knew more about running the plantation/farm than the actual owner.

The African americans work as slaves was hard and gruesome.
Slaves were worth a lot of money because they can do a lot of work and many people wanted slaves to work under them, so slave trade increased and as that increased trade with Muslim merchants increased!!! AMAZING!!! If they (slaves) were in Africa, they were lucky because they had a little chance to escape to liberty. They had to work hard or marry a free person to be exposed to liberty!!!
Because they have to worked hard so the slaves don't have to be whipped and hurt to death.
