When settlers were first moving into America, one of the main colonies was Virginia. They were hoping to reap some of the profit they could make off of the land. Their first selection was to force the natives into slavery, but the Native Americans were not suited for the type of slavery the English had and they ran away. In 1609 the first slave arrived in Jamestown.
