The South wasn't wrong in the sense that it was more about a differences in philosophies. The North being more industrial and the south being more agricultural. Slavery was a catalyst to start the war and was made to seem like a reason to start the war. Most slaves in the south weren't treated cruelly and many actually sided with the south during the war. Slavery would have died out anyway since it was becoming a financial burdon to own slaves with the invention of the cotton gin, the loom and many other inventions. The South wasn't wrong and the North wasn't wrong. Like today politics played a major role in the war and the men and women who sacrificed their lives on both sides were led to believe it was a more nobler cause than it really was.
