hours a vet worka a day
It depends on the vet you take them to and what they do there.
A vet works about 9 hours a day and should be able to be called on 24/7. But you can have shifts within the day.
There are many animals seen by a vet in a single day. A vet can see 10 or more at a busy clinic.
At a specialty clinic, a vet may work 6-8 hours a day during the week. In contrast, an ambulatory large animal vet may work 20 hours a day during the week if he is on call for emergency after working a 10 hour day shift.

Only if you want to. Most D.V.M.'s hire vet techs or veterinary assistants to assist with the day to day chores of a vet clinic. An associates or equivilant degree in this field can usually be obtained from any number of 2 or 4 year colleges, trade schools or "vo-techs".
