Lazer guns are illegal because well i dont know but if i did know it would be because people are over cautious

Actually, laser tag lasers are not illegal in public, however as noted above, it's not a good idea to be walking around in public sporting them as people could mistake them for a real weapon, even though they look more like a sci-fi laser. It's probably best to play in the yard, etc.
However, in many states it is legal to open carry firearms and people and police don't generally open fire just because they see someone with a gun. So, there is no reason to assume that anyone would open fire on someone with a lazer gun either. Many toy guns have an orange tip on the barrel, indicating it is a toy.
