You can have your tongue pierced with anything that be run through an autoclave. I can see no advantages to gold over 316lvm stainless other than if you're allergic to the stainless and titanium, just a higher price tag.
Typically you should wait at least 30 days before changing the tongue bar that you were pierced with. A shorter surgical steel tongue bar may be put in to replace the original tongue bar after swelling in the tongue goes down.
Stick with the metal bar you were pierced with for the first couple of months.
if it hurts it could be a slight infection or maybe its just a bit of a irritation from the tongue bar.

Yes! I got mine pierced yesterday for the second time and i have a slight lisp nothing major though, the first time i got my tongue pierced the lisp lasted about 3 days till the swelling went down and my mouth adjusted to having a bar in it..hope this helps :)
It depends if it fell out and it's just been a few hours then you can gauge it back open. The middle of the hole seals up because your tongue is a muscle and the muscle goes back to it's original state as soon as the bar is removed from your tongue. If it's been a while then it's safe to get it re-pierced.
Yes, it is safe to sleep on your side after having your tongue pierced. However, it may not be a comfortable position because of the way the bar might press into the roof of your mouth.
Each barbell is scaled to the size of the tongue to be pierced therefore there is no "actual size" barbell for tongues, this is why you need to have the piercing done by a professional body piercer who will scale and measure the tongue and place the correctly sized barbell into the piercing.
You better take it out and do some research about what is going on.
I have had my tongue pierced for a while now and when you first get it pierced your bar will be long for the swelling it takes up too a month until you can change it but after the first week the pain will go away i recommened ice and popcicels but dairy products make it swell more and give you a chance to get a yeast infection in your mouth as for the marks at the top they will go away with ice and rinse your mouth with biotine it works greAT!!!
Well mine is crooked and so far nothing bad has happened. But its like towards the side. My dads friends was from like back to front and when his tongue swelled the bar went inside his tongue.. so it really depends on the angle.
