Cherry Bombs are mufflers that do not contain baffles and thus produce less back-pressure in the exhaust system than a conventional muffler. This lower back-pressure allows the exhaust system to scavenge more of the combustion gases from the cylinder while the exhaust valve is open. On the intake stroke the cylinder is at a lower pressure and contains less by-products of combustion and thus is able to take in a greater volume of the air/fuel mix. Since less energy is used to compress combustion byproducts and more fuel is available to produce energy the result is a more efficient conversion of energy per crankshaft revolution. It should be noted that if your exhaust system has a catalytic converter or many bends, the addition of a baffle free muffler may not have a noticeable effect on the exhaust back-pressure when measured at the exhaust valve (where back-pressure has the most effect).
The EGR system is used to lower combustion temperatures and thus reduce the oxides of nitrogen (NO) present in your exhaust. When you lower the back-pressure below the manufacturer's design level you change the calibration of the EGR system which may raise the level of NO in your exhaust. NO is a component of smog and acid rain. Higher combustion temperatures can also lead to preignition, commonly called spark knock, which can damage your engine.
No. Removing a restricter on a scooter's carb will make it faster but decrease mpg. If you are talking about a restrictor on the exhaust, then most likely you will increase mpg, but boy is it LOUD.
Headers are aftermarket replacements for the exhaust maniflods. They are the parts bolted directly to the heads on the sides of the engine. They channel the exhaust from each cylinder down to the exhaust pipes. :)
Multiply mpg by 0.43 to get kpl
If it is a 5 speed, depending on how your exhaust is you can get anywhere from 35-45mpg. I had a free flow, straight header exhaust and was getting roughly 50mpg if not more.
depending on your driving, it could increase up to 4 or 5 mpg. But gas mileage will be determined by driving style.
The 1999 Tracker averages 25 mpg in the city. The tracker averages 28 mpg on the highway. These are estimates, the mileage can change with driving conditions.
32 miles per gallon = 38.4 miles per Imperial gallon.
2006 Dodge ram 2500 diesel. I have the edge chip w/attitude, 5" MBRP exhaust AFE stage 2 cold air intake. The best I've got was 19 mpg. 15mpg towing this is with 285 size tires. I was getting 22 mpg with stock 265's.
2005 XC90: 19 mpg in-town; 24-26 mpg highway
If you were to cut off your exhaust pipe the muffler would come off with it, sence it is attached to the very end... I would be alot louder, it might hurt your MPG rating....
performance exhausts are always better for vehicles. Along with an increase in horsepower and torque, you will also get an increase in mpg(miles per gallon)
Exhaust that are aftermarketed help your car bretha better because the are bigger and have less curving so this will allow the car possibly 1-2 mpg better on a tank if car is runnung properly.
