The rigid definition of a vampire requires them to be dead. However there are people (and things) that have the potential to become vampires and some that have even employed this ability before they died. Persons that are half-vampires, or the child of a vampire are called Dhampirs. Usually they do not employ their vampire abilities until after they are dead as there is no good reason to do so unless you need to steal life-energy. (If you're already alive you create your own life-energy (which is of higher quality than stolen) so you have no need to steal any.) In fact most Dhampirs are vampire hunters. There is the story of Margot Seevel who (supposidly) was the grandchild of a full vampire. As a young child she was dying of small-pox and her parents (by some ritual) awakened the vampire potential in her so she could take life-energy (via blood consumption) to sustain her through the course of the disease. She survived (albeit scarred) and lived an otherwise ordinary life, married and mothered four children. When she died however her body was burned so she wouldn't awaken to become a true vampire.
No, vampires are immortal. They can only be killed when in direct sunlight for 2 hours or a celestial bronze spike through the heart. Holy water and a cross are ineffective to vampire as they are not devil incarnate or any of that other mumbo-jumbo.
because they are not real. They never have been!
i dont know, they just are
No they do not, unless you speak of vampires of animals such as bats, who which don't even suck on blood.
nope,VAMPIREs r the undead NOT the dead!
they are dead but they still live
Louis, Lestat, and Armand are vampires in the Vampire Chronicles series who are dead.
None. Vampires are not alive--they are un-dead.
yes
Vampires aren't alive anywhere. A vampire is a dead body.

This question has to be clearer.
I think vampires are not real because vampires are the living dead and vampires drink blood but they don't have blood inside them.
It is not possible for vampires to get pregnant. This is because vampires are considered to be un-dead. In some stories, vampires can get humans pregnant.
No, the vampires cannot cry, because they are DEAD! They are the walking, living dead. That's also why they can't blush, they are dead so they have no blood. EDIT: This would be WRONG... Being dead doesn't mean you have no blood. It means your heart doesn't pump your blood. And I'm not sure the 'vampires' in Twilight can be called Vampires.
threes thins hole thing in film that vampires are dead, however vampires are the living dead. vampires really hate garlic and silver but stakes and crosses really irritate them, or try speaking a lot of bible nonsenses usually does the trick
