Does Xbox Kinect work on any Xbox?

Yes, it is just that the new Xbox 360 slim has a dedicated kinect port on the back of the xbox just above the Ethernet port. The old xbox requires an A/C adapter that came with the kinect so you can plug it into the xbox in the back or the front USB ports.

An Xbox360 game must be Kinect ready.

There will be 3 types of box from now on to distinguish Xbox360 games:

Games which require the Kinect and will not function with the regular controller. (purple box)

Games which do not use the Kinect at all. (green box)

And finally games which use the kinect for some of its features but do not require it; usually as an add on feature that doesnt effect the main gameplay (these are green with a purple title somewhere on it listing the kinect feature)

Each will have a different color box and clearly marked labeling.

well, in Walmart or in target, they sell an xbox WITH THE KINECT. they expllaned that there has to be chip if you have the old xbox
