How do you change from server in World of Warcraft?

First you go to your account management section of Battle net. Then you click on the World of Warcraft game. Underneath the license and download areas there is the character re-customization area. This is where you go to change servers, faction, names.

Quoted from the paid character transfer page on the world of warcraft website:

• The paid character transfer is not immediate and may take several days to complete. Your character will not be available for play during this time.
• Each character you transfer costs $25.00 USD . This covers the character's ONE-WAY TRANSFER to a new realm, a new account, or both at the same time.
• Your character will not have any guild or arena team affiliation upon arrival at the destination realm.
• Each character may only transfer once every 3 days.
• You will need to rename your character if his/her name is taken on your destination realm.
• Character transfers between accounts are subject to restrictions. Click here to learn more.
• Characters who undergo a Paid Character Transfer are ineligible for Realm First Achievements for two months after the date of the transfer.

When you open the game and select a server, you will come to the character selection screen. Here is where you make a character. Play with the available options untill you get the character just the way you want it. It may take a few seconds after you are finished to login.

You need to go log in and in the lower right or left corner there is a bar that says change server and you select that and from there you will just have to pick a server and nothing happens to your characters on your other server. If you want to play them again later you can just change back to the old server.

There are also free-transfers available for realms that have too many people on them, to move to servers that have a low population.

To change your realm or server on WoW you must go to the WoW website, sign in, and then go click on Server/Realm Change. After you do that you will have to fill out your credit card info and confirm. This costs 25 USD.

You can transfer to lower populated realms for free though if there are severs that are needing more people.
