You need to have a master scientist then you need to buy the second factor of the technology section then put the master onto the board and the Heathen master scientist will approve (hopefully) and you only need to do this 2 times and the mask will come off.

There is a piece of cloth which is a robe on a hook near the place where rain water will collect and the children will play in the puddles. That robe is the chief's robe. Drag a villager over to the robe and they will try it on. If it does not fit, drag another villager over to the robe. Keep doing this until the robe fits one person. That person will be your chief. There is no way to tell who your chief will be. There is an alchemy potion you can use to pick a chief too.
