How do you defeat Randolf Spellshine in Wizard 101?

Defeat him in one attack, or use a strategy in order to defeat him; he's a trickster, meaning that he'll use any of the the two cheats listed to defeat you, unless you defeat in just one attack.

Here is a list of some of his tricks does to help you out

• He will use the death spell "Vampire" if you do not have a shield. The spell will do 350 damage to you, while healing him with 175 health points. He will do this attack, only if you do not have a shield and that he does not have his full health.
• He will use the balance spell "Shatter" after every second round as an interrupt if you have a shield on. The spell will remove every positive shield you have.

Recommended strategy

1. Summon a minion if you have one. Especially if your school's minion throws shields quite often---like balance.
2. Get a shield and heal. Don't have more than one round of shields at a time as Randolph will just take them all at the same time, which will make your additional shields useless.
3. Don't attack (yet). The vampire only shows up when Randolf's health is not full, therefore, attack when the time is right.
4. Save your pips as much as possible. Then after you have lots of pips, hit him with the spell that has the strongest attack you have, whether it is a treasure card or a learned spell. A per-pip spell works well here.
