You can play Minecraft for free without downloading or surveys at the Minecraft.net web site. That version is the classic version though. You can go on Youtube and search for Minecraft lets play videos and see what it's like to play Minecraft. If you decide to buy it you can buy it at the store on the web site.
Only if you got the free version (web browser only) from minecraft.net the official web site of Minecraft.
The Minecraft website has an early Java version which is single-player and free, playable in your web browser. This is not the full paid version. Another alternative to Minecraft is Minetest, which is very much similar, absolutely free, however does require download. As of yet, I have only gotten Minetest working on Windows computers and on Linux using Wine. The Minetest website is available through a google search for the name. You can also play it in Browser with out any download on supremestrategy.com/
The free version is web browser based only. You can only play it in IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.
Minecraft Schematics can be downloaded from any Minecraft Schematics site or it can be found at downloadable sites such as dl known as downloadable web sites
