you get certain 'school only spells', plus your health points are different, e.g. ice wizards get the most health, storm wizards get the least. For example, only death wizards can get the death blade, death trap, hex, summon death minion spell, beguile, scarecrow ect. Also, all the spells in your school are free, so you don't have to spend training points on them.
